Following the success of 2010 we are excited to be promoting Heyford Youth Cricket again, and will be continuing with our popular coaching and development sessions at Nether Heyford Playing Fields. Run by our team of ECB qualified coaches, and supported by Club members and volunteers, the sessions will run on Thursday evenings for 12 weeks, from 5th May to 21st July, from 6:00pm to 7:30pm, and are aimed primarily at boys and girls aged 8-13 years.

Heyford Youth Cricket will also be entering a team again in the Northants Youth Cricket League U11 section, and will additionally be arranging a number of U14 "friendlies" to give as many players as possible the opportunity to play competitive matches.

We look forward to welcoming back all our junior cricketers, and invite new players of all abilities to come along.   (Check out the review of 2010 further down this page too!)

REVIEW OF 2010

Wow – what a successful year! Heyford CC Youth Cricket has continued to develop and the summer of 2010 surpassed all expectations. Our debut season in the Northants Junior Cricket League saw several outstanding performances from our U11 team against some more established youth sides, resulting in an entirely merited 3rd place finish. By the end of the season Heyford CC U11s had played 14 matches, winning 8 and losing 6, with a total of 17 players taking part in League fixtures.

The U11 playing squad deserves hearty congratulations for their dedication, enthusiasm and most impressive cricketing ability. I would also like to thank all the players for their impeccable manners and positive approach to every match. The season was an honour for the coaches and I to be a part of, and the players have been fantastic ambassadors for Heyford CC as has been recognised by several other Cricket Clubs’ officials.

It is always difficult to single out individuals for praise as every player contributed to the season’s success, however, significant performances were delivered by Tom Pearson (122runs), Lauren Murphy (119runs) and Oakley Young (89runs/ 9wkts), whilst Luca Delfino-Rice was voted the League’s best U11 wicket-keeper. Special mention should also go to Josh Bastin, Liam Newman and Shaun Hopkins for outstanding performances, often against considerably older opposition.

Additional recognition and thanks must be given to the parents, to our supporters, and to my team of coaches and volunteers who encouraged our young players week after week. Thank you all. Here’s to another successful season!
