|
Shaun Boyson |
10 |
New 1st XI Vice-Captain will shoulder
greater responsibility this season and hopefully lose the
bad boy points that have followed him in recent years. New
role at the top the order as well, and is an ‘option’ with
the ball. Usually tops the catches table. |
|
Dave Livermore |
10 |
Leading points scorer, opening bowler, top scoring
batsmen, coach, lothario and now captain… Surely the Lizard
has taken on too much for his ailing body! So excited he
could burst (which is bad for availability). |
|
Ross Cambray |
9 |
Ross cracked under the pressure of 10 rating last
season, failing to reignite his 2009 form. Finally started
to find the middle of the bat halfway through the season,
though middling it only square into his face. |
|
Simon Legge |
9 |
Latin-speaking Chairman has been nicknamed Gibraltar,
as he is the rock at the top of the 1st XI
batting order. Will certainly play the role of elder
statesman again this year as her continues to steer the
Heyford Ship. |
|
Chris Peck |
9 |
Evergreen Chris still takes wickets every season, and
also contributes more and more with the bat. Will it be
another big haul of wickets season or will he take a back
seat to the club’s younger bowlers? |
|
Matt Baker |
8 |
Wicketkeeper-batsman has relinquished his captaincy
for the 2011 season, so the pressure is off and he can look
to dominate with the bat. Could be the bargain of the season
if it all comes together. |
|
Darren Bastin |
8 |
Hard-hitting batsman was top of the batting ranks for
the 2nd XI last term and was also a key man in
the middle overs. Will certainly have a role to play again
this season. |
|
Dion Harrison |
8 |
Big Aussie Dion was a top performer in the 2nd
XI last season, before progressing to the first XI and
impressing with bat, ball and in the field. Hasn’t been seen
much since Michael Beer chopped a Tremlett delivery onto his
stumps in January. |
|
Craig Johnson |
8 |
Perpetual loose cannon and local double-glazing mogul
tells more stories than Hans Christian Anderson. A great
cricketer, class with bat and a genuine partnership breaker
with the ball. How much does he play this season however?
|
|
Rob Pardon |
8 |
One man’s consistency is another man’s boring. He
consistently fails to get 40 wickets in a season, and
consistently props up the batting averages, but rapidly
becoming the go-to-man in the Heyford bowling attack. |
|
Andy Baker |
7 |
One of the form men with bat in the 2nd XI
last year, although that isn’t saying much. Regular 2nd
XI keeper will bolster points with catches, but will be
married by the time season starts… worrying. |
|
David Baker |
7 |
Bowler and genuine chatterbox Dave had a
disappointing season last year, but will hope to deliver a
resurgence of form during the 2011 season, with the added
pressure of some new young bowlers coming through. |
|
NEW
James Baldwin |
7 |
New member of Team Sainsbury’s who joins Heyford
following a big season with the bat at Towcestrians. He is
of course an unknown quantity, but has a good eye and may
well be called upon for a bit of leg-break. |
|
NEW
Jacob Gilder |
7 |
Joining the club alongside his
step-brother James (above), Jacob is another fine prospect.
Lower order clubber, accurate left-arm spinner, county
junior honours already under his belt and still only 16 -
could he be the missing piece in the club's jigsaw? |
|
Ed Rogers |
7 |
Entering his first season as a married man so who
knows how this will affect Ed? He will still offer you
points with bat and ball, and will score well if we handed
out ‘bloody nice bloke’ points. |
|
Andy Sharp |
7 |
Sharpy flirted between 1st and 2nd
XIs last season, and was probably short of runs by his own
standards. However, Andy is renowned accumulator of runs and
will no doubt be the backbone of a few Heyford innings’. |
|
Tom Whittaker |
7 |
Batsman, fielder, wicket-keeper and all-round legend,
Tom will deliver you steady points, and if we could count
runs saved in the field, he would score a couple of points
higher for sure. Captain of Team Sainsbury’s. |
|
NEW
Shane Willey |
7 |
New Sainsbury’s recruit, and Dave Livermore prodigy
Shane is an unknown package for Heyford after some previous
success at Ashby Timken; he’s young and quick and therefore
everything his mentor isn’t. Jury is still out on the
batting front. |
|
Jamie Apps |
6 |
After returning from injury last season, we are
hoping to see the best from Appsy. Bowling stints were
limited to 4-5 over spells which limited his effectiveness,
and the number in the wicket column. |
|
Rick Bastin |
6 |
Veteran Left-arm spinner has worked hard in the close
season; unfortunately he wasn’t working hard on fitness and
weight loss. Nevertheless, a hugely experienced bowler who
will perform at both levels. |
|
NEW
Kyle Browne |
6 |
Far and away the most popular, most talented, best
looking and all around greatest bloke of the Browne family,
Kyle is the youngest brother and talented spinner who we are
keen to see more of. |
|
Scott Browne |
6 |
Pint-sized Browne is pesky cricketer, a natural
striker of the ball who hits a ball as clean as anyone, but
rugby commitments and other dull excuses seem to prevent his
appearances, therefore his scores. |
|
Mark Fergusson |
6 |
Fergatron must be disappointed after last year, but
there are still glimpses of what he can offer. Will want to
return to his batting form of earlier days and contribute
more runs to the 2nd XI effort. |
|
Mark Hobbs |
6 |
Hobbsy’s first HCC season without the impact of
University, should mean this handy all-rounder should
provide a bit more consistency. Intelligent man who should
deliver his best season to date. |
|
Adam Linnell |
6 |
Unorthodox Linnell is great striker of cricket ball
and is yet to rediscover his bowling form of his youth, but
does his move to Bristol limit appearances? |
|
NEW
Alan Lovell |
6 |
Another newcomer coming back into the
game after a year out and previous experience with Stoke
Bruerne. Any friend of Pecky is bound to be competitive so
could prove good value with bat and ball. |
|
Rory Smallbone |
6 |
Rozzler offers great value at 6, capable of scoring
runs for both the 1st XI and 2nd XI.
Has a great natural eye and scores quickly; also has an eye
for body art, females and getting way too drunk before a
game. |
|
Craig Browne |
5 |
Currently causing major political unrest in the
Middle East, he is ‘expected’ to return before the start
of the season. Half-pint sized Browne is a wristy
batman and an excellent fielder, who has yet to string lots
of games together |
|
NEW
Laurence Buck |
5 |
Young Buck is young bowler who is improving rapidly.
Had his first ‘taste’ of HCC life last season, and Boyson
promises him more. Expected to feature with the ball
significantly, but is prone to long and expensive holidays. |
|
Jonny Cooper |
5 |
Consistent Coops got the yips last season, limiting
scoring opportunity to batting efforts, but he’s back in the
nets and working hard to find form. Possible step up to
keeping duties for the 2nd XI this season. |
|
NEW
Rob Dunkley |
5 |
World Champion Bag-piper enters his first full season
for HCC. Stunning 1st XI debut last year with a
fine fielding performance, but likely to feature more at 2nd
XI level this term. |
|
NEW
Nick Inwood |
5 |
Hard hitting middle-order batsman and top-class story
teller, with little Alfie growing up we hope to see Stan
having a gash a bit more regularly. Confidence player who is
definitely worth a punt. |
|
Pete Rice |
5 |
Talented keeper-batsman from yesteryear, if fully
available his scores would defy his value of 5. With son
Luca coming through the ranks there’s still hope for an
Indian summer for Pete’s HCC career. |
|
NEW
Charles Wilkins |
5 |
A product of Heyford’s youth initiative, this young
left handed batsman is keen to impress. Has been working
hard on his techniques over the winter and could be ‘one to
watch’. |
