2010 rules
Objective
Pretty much the same as 2009!
-
To pick a team of Heyford cricketers that
will earn you the most points throughout the 2010 season.
Players will earn points through the normal cricketing ways –
scoring runs, taking wickets, and taking catches. There are a few
little changes this year to point-scoring that are detailed below.
-
Teams must be selected and given to Ross
prior to the first fixture of the season (April 24th)
via phone, text, e-mail, facebook or in person. His number is 07867
515819, and e-mail is
rosscambray@hotmail.co.uk. Amusing team names are compulsory
this year!
-
Cost of playing will be £5 for the season
(if you want to enter more than one team, it will be £5 per team).
To be paid as soon as possible. I will chase you up if you owe me!
This year the top manager at the end of the season will win £50!
Team Selection
-
Participants must choose 6 players –
this year there is no distinction between batsmen and bowlers as so
many players can do both! Just pick six players from the list!
All players will score points for everything on the pitch. There are
still no designated wicket-keepers for simplicity but they will of
course earn points for catches and stumpings.
-
Each player has again been assigned a value
out of 10. The total value of your chosen team of six must not
exceed 45. This year values have been assigned based on 2009’s
performances and appearances. Therefore some players’ values have
increased from last year, some have decreased and some have stayed
the same. Some players who did not play last year and who are
unlikely to play a part this year have been removed, but some new
players who did make appearances in 2009 and are likely to do so
again in 2010 have been added. There are now 31 players to choose
from. Points will be accrued every game that a player takes part in,
and your team’s total will be worked out each week. If one of your
players does not play one week then bad luck, he won’t earn any
points for you!
Transfers!
This year, after several requests, there
will be a TRANSFER WINDOW! This will occur in the middle of the
season, after half the league games have been completed. The window will
open at 10am on Sunday 4th July, and will close at 10pm on Friday 9th
July. During this time you will be permitted a maximum of TWO
changes to your team. Your new team selection must be communicated
to me (via e-mail, telephone, facebook etc) during this window, or the
changes will not be permitted. Your team must still be six players
and must still not exceed a total value of 45. Players removed from
your team will immediately cease to earn you any points. Players added
to your team will only earn you points from 10th July
onwards. No retroactive points will be applied. There will be no
other opportunities throughout the season to change your team.
All
information, scores, tables, transfer details etc will be updated
throughout the season on
www.heyfordcricket.co.uk so put it in your favourites now!
Scoring points
Scoring points this year will be broadly the
same as last year, with a few little additions
|
Batting |
| 1 run |
1 point |
| Half-century |
10 bonus points
(so 51 runs = 51+10=61) |
| Century
|
25 bonus points
(not cumulative with bonus points from half-century - so 101
runs = 101+25=126) |
| Hitting a six
|
2 bonus points
|
| Out for a duck |
-10 points |
|
NEW! Jug avoidance |
-5 points (being
dismissed between 45-49 or 90-99) |
|
Bowling |
| Wicket
|
10 points |
| 5-wicket haul |
20 bonus points
(so 6 wickets = 60+20=80) |
| Maiden over |
2 points |
|
NEW! Hit for a six |
-2 points |
|
Fielding |
| Catch (as
fielder) |
10 points |
| Catch (as
keeper) |
5 points |
| Stumping |
10 points |
|
NEW! Run-out |
10 points for a
direct hit run-out |
| 5 points for
each participant for an indirect run-out |
|
NEW! Dropped chance |
-5 points
(This could potentially cause
disputes, so captain or vice-captain’s decision is final.
Generally speaking, if you get a hand to a chance (or leg,
knee, elbow, head etc!) and don’t hold on – it’s a drop!) |
|
Extras |
|
NEW! Win bonus |
10 points for
playing in a winning game |
|
NEW! Bad boy penalty |
-10 points for
any overt examples of bad discipline or bringing the game
into disrepute!! |
It is the captain or the vice-captain on the
day’s job to let Ross know of any specifics that could affect the above
that cannot be discerned from the completed scorebook i.e. who was
involved in run-outs, who dropped a sitter, who spat the dummy at
getting out lbw etc. If Ross isn't told then points won’t get scored (or
deducted)!
Heyford CC
Fantasy Cricket 2010 – player values and profiles (great stuff Beano!)
|
Ross Cambray |
10 |
Fantasy
Cricket’s co-ordinator and top points’ scorer last year,
opens the batting and the bowling so bound to score points,
but two injury free seasons in a row? Surely too much to ask
for… |
|
Dave Livermore |
10 |
1st XI Batsman of the
year last term, throw into the hat 30+ wickets and you have
yourself a big points’ accumulator. However, will Dave’s
ailing body and ‘bad boy’ penalties affect his 2010 haul? |
|
Chris Peck |
10 |
Evergreen Peck is the club’s
all-time leading wicket taker, and will be aiming for 40
this year… Always value for low order runs and a prolific
six-hitter, but also has ‘bad boy’ past. |
|
Shaun Boyson |
9 |
Pace, spin, middle-order runs
and always tops the list of outfield catchers, Shaun
contributes in all areas of the game, always plays almost
every game but sometimes lacks consistency. |
|
Matt Baker |
9 |
1st XI Skipper, and
fine keeper-batsmen, doesn’t drop a thing behind the sticks
and if he converts his starts will score big points this
term. Will marriage and fatherhood affect him though? |
|
Simon Legge |
9 |
Veteran batsman remains the
stalwart of the 1st XI top order and has a
separate room dedicated to Batting Awards. Scores points
with gully catches, but he will never ever bowl for Heyford
again. |
|
Rob Pardon |
8 |
Mr Consistency with the ball,
will toil through long spells and picks up wickets at the
death. Safe hands at slip will bolster his scores but only
one scoring innings last season limits his totals.
|
|
Darren Bastin |
8 |
2nd XI batsman of
year in 2009, and Fantasy Cricket Manager of the Season,
should score plenty of runs and a useful bowler but
historically 2nd XI batsman winners struggle the
season after… |
|
David Baker |
8 |
2nd XI bowling
starlet, youthful Baker Jr. is improving year on year. Given
enough opportunity will become the leading wicket taker in
the 2nd XI, may be short on runs though… |
|
Rick Bastin |
8 |
Ridiculous bowling average and
strike rate in the 2nd XI last year, and showed
that he is still a class act in the 1st XI also.
With lots of appearances, Rick could be the bargain pick of
2010. |
|
Ed Rogers |
7 |
Ed suffered a poor season by his
own standards last time out, but offers points with both
bat, ball and in the field. A return to form could see Ed
proving to be the buy of the season. |
|
Andy Sharp |
7 |
2nd XI opening
batsman will be looking to return to his 2008 form.
Confirmed good availability should see Sharpy scoring well
above his value this time out. |
|
Adam Linnell |
7 |
Linnell missed the middle part
of the season rock hunting, which hampered his total. A big
hitter with some of the safest hands in the club and will be
after more action with the ball. |
|
Ifan Jenkins |
7 |
All-round talent yet to prove
his true worth in Heyford colours, Ifan is handy with bat
and bowl. If he pulls it altogether he could offer a big
points haul this season. |
|
Rory Smallbone |
7 |
Talented left-hander has, up
until now not reached his maximum potential. Another year
older and another year wiser, when Smalls hits his straps
there will be runs a plenty. Dropped catches? |
|
Dion Harrison |
7 |
Batting and bowling Aussie has
the ability to score big points in his Fantasy Cricket
debut. If the availability is good and the injury niggles
hold out, Dion should score well. |
|
Nathan Lacey |
7 |
Cracking batsmen, good fielder
and bowls on occasion, Lacey would be ranked much higher if
he hadn’t started his 2009 account with a string of ducks. |
|
Tom Whittaker |
7 |
Will definitely benefit from the
added fielding points, and showed what he could do with the
bat on a couple of occasions last season when give the
chance. Never lets anyone down. |
|
Craig Johnson |
7 |
This potential bad boy has the
ability well above the rating of 7. A classy batsman, safe
hands and a potential partnership breaker, but a risky pick
based on his patchy availability. |
|
Jamie Apps |
7 |
Appsy returns to Heyford CC for
2010, once a Sunday side regular in their heyday. Appsy
bowls with impeccable line and length, and expect wickets.
But will his long injury lay-off affect him? |
|
Nick Clarke |
6 |
Lord of the Manor Nick Clarke is
a man in his newly built castle; expect more batting
consistency from one of Heyford’s longest standing players,
but unlikely to score big in the field or with the ball. |
|
Scott Browne |
6 |
Little big man Scott has natural
sporting ability, can contribute in all areas of the game
and if he commits to a few more games, expect big things
this term. |
|
Jon Kemp |
6 |
The rangy all-rounder made
significant impact in his debut Heyford season, but
appearances were limited last term. With availability not
confirmed, he is a risky pick, but could prove very
lucrative. |
|
Craig Browne |
6 |
Pocket-sized Browne is a
stroke-player at the crease, combined with safe hands and
some potential keeping stints. But how much will his other
commitments affect his totals this season? |
|
Jonny Cooper |
6 |
Almost permanent fixture in the
2nd XI last term, will have a part to play with
both bat and ball, and is a safe bet in the field – good
availability option. |
|
Pete Rice |
6 |
If he plays more than 5 or 6
games, you are in serious profit here. It’s always a risk
with Pete, but with young Luca featuring in the youth set
up, we might see Pete donning the whites more regularly. |
|
Mark Hobbs |
6 |
Tidy all-rounder, bowls with
nice curve and has a frantic but effective approach at the
crease, your return on this man will depend on availability.
|
|
Mark Fergusson |
5 |
Fergie, rated at a 5? Really? A
poor stint in 2009 by own his standards, I’m sure he’ll be
hoping to rectify this in 2010. Will score most of his
points with the bat. |
|
Andy Baker |
5 |
Plenty of catching opportunities
for the regular 2nd XI keeper and vice captain,
and he’ll be hoping for more runs in 2010. Good pick in
terms of availability. |
|
Ash Raizada |
5 |
RamprakASH has scored big for
the 2nd XI the past, and his Fantasy Cricket
score will only be limited by his number of appearances this
season. |
|
Cliff Simms |
5 |
Cliff is this year’s dark horse;
he has spent a couple of seasons supporting the 1st
XI, but in 2010 he has committed to a season of 2nd
XI action and is looking to contribute in all aspects. |
